Custom jewellery making
Process

How your piece comes together, step by step

From the first word to the finished piece. You take part in every stage, it is not a finished thing from a display case.

01

Consultation

We meet at the workshop or have a call. You show me what you have in mind: a sketch, a photo, or just words. We discuss the material, the timing and the budget.

02

Design

I prepare a design for your piece, and for more complex pieces a 3D model or a wax prototype. The design carries a 500 CZK deposit, which I deduct from the price of the piece. Nothing is made until you've agreed.

Making

Every piece I make by hand in my workshop. I photograph each step. You'll know how your piece is coming together. No production line, no compromises.

Handover

Collect the piece in person at the workshop, or I'll ship it insured. Every piece also comes with the option to bring it in once a year for a free professional clean, for the lifetime of the piece.

Handmade

What handmade actually means

Most jewellery in shops is cast: one mould is made and hundreds of identical pieces come out of it. I build a piece from scratch, from sheet and wire, with a saw and a torch. It takes longer and costs more, but the material ends up denser and the piece holds the shape we worked out together, not the one that came out of the mould.

01

Handmade silver jewellery

925/1000 sterling silver. Rings, earrings, pendants and chains. The hours of work are the same in silver as in gold, only the price of the metal differs, so this is the cheapest way to own a one-off piece made for you. Most designs I can later make in gold as well.

02

Handmade gold jewellery

585/1000 (14 kt) and 750/1000 (18 kt) gold, in yellow, white or rose. Every piece hallmarked. With gold it pays to discuss the weight up front: the width and thickness of a band move the price more than the karat does.

03

Made from your own gold

Do you have gold at home that nobody wears? I will melt it down and make a new piece from it. I need at least 8 grams of the original gold at the same karat. You then pay for the work, not the material, and the new piece carries metal that has already served your family.

Materials

Certified metals, hand-picked stones

I know where every material comes from, and why I'm using it.

Opal on a wooden surface, raw material

Gold and silver

I work with 585/1000 (14 kt) and 750/1000 (18 kt) gold, and 925/1000 sterling silver. All metals certified and hallmarked.

Precious stones

Diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds. Every stone hand-picked from verified suppliers with certification.

Natural stones

Opals, garnets, amethysts, moonstones, tourmalines. I select a stone that matches your wish and your budget.

Repairs and remakes

Repairs and remakes

Grandmother's pieces, lost pairs, old bands. Most things I can handle within a few weeks.

I give pieces a second life, so you can keep wearing what you love.

Repairs, remakes, completing lost pairs. I work with what you have: a stone from your grandmother, a surviving earring from a pair, an old band that has run its course.

If you have your own material, you can bring it in and I'll use it. For pairs, one surviving piece is enough to work from.

01

Grandmother's piece

I'll remake a worn band and keep the stone. The character of the piece stays. You just get to wear it again.

02

Lost pair

I'll make the missing earring or ring so it's indistinguishable from the original. Working from photos and the surviving piece.

03

Discreet commission

An engagement ring that should stay a secret. Consultation by phone, work done quietly, standard timeline 3–4 weeks.

Price guide

A guide to where it starts

Prices depend on the complexity, material and stones. I prepare a precise quote after the consultation, free and without obligation. Drawing up a design carries a deposit of 500 CZK, which I deduct from the price of the piece.

A custom piece is hand-assembled from sheets and wire to your wish, so you are not paying only for the metal, but for hours of craft. And because handwork takes just as long in silver as in gold, even a silver piece is not a cheap affair. Consider which material you want those hours of work to go into.

Ring with a stone from CZK 3,500

Rush orders

Five days is enough. Sometimes less.

A proposal on Saturday. An anniversary you remembered late. A birthday gift you almost forgot. Simpler pieces (a ring without a stone, a plain chain, a stamped signet) I can make within five working days in 585/1000 gold. Call right away, I'll tell you whether it can be done and what it will cost.

“I can only warmly recommend him. I am completely satisfied and convinced you will not easily find a better goldsmith in Prague. Above all I value the precise workmanship, the speed, the excellent communication and very fair prices. He can also take your old gold and turn it into an entirely new, beautiful piece exactly as you imagine it.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What do I get extra when I buy a piece from you?
Every piece I make for you can be brought in once a year for a free professional clean, for the lifetime of the piece. Just get in touch and we'll arrange a date. You keep the piece in its original shine without needing to go anywhere else.
How long does a custom piece take?
A simple piece (a ring, a pendant) I make within 2–3 weeks. More complex pieces with stones or engravings take 4–6 weeks. For rush orders we agree individually.
How much does a custom piece cost?
The price depends on the material, complexity, and stones. Silver pieces start at CZK 2,500, gold at CZK 8,000. I prepare a precise quote after the consultation.
Can you repair or alter an existing piece?
Yes, I repair and alter pieces. Resizing rings, replacing stones, fixing clasps. Bring the piece into the workshop and we can discuss what is possible.
How does the consultation work?
Call or message on WhatsApp. We can meet at the workshop in Prague 5, or do everything remotely, by phone, email or video call.
Can you make a piece from my own gold?
Yes. I melt down old gold and make a new piece from it. I need at least 8 grams of the original gold at the same karat, otherwise the material cannot be worked reliably. You then pay for the work, not the material. Bring the gold to the workshop in Prague 5, we will weigh it and talk about what it can realistically become.
Is there a charge for the design?
The consultation is free and without obligation, and you can ask me anything. Once I am to draw something up for you, the design carries a deposit of 500 CZK. If you order the piece, I deduct it from the price. Drawing a design is work like any other, and it has happened that I did it and the piece was then made elsewhere. This keeps it fair on both sides.
Do you offer a warranty on your pieces?
Every piece carries a lifetime warranty on material and workmanship defects. Normal wear (scratches, patina) isn't covered, but I'm happy to help with maintenance.
