What I repair

What I can handle in my workshop

01

Ring resizing, up or down

Changing a ring by 1 to 3 sizes. On 14k and 18k gold rings without any loss of strength. Usually done within 5 working days.

02

Stone replacement

Cracked stone in a ring? Lost a tourmaline out of an earring? I will replace the stone with one of the same quality, or help you pick an alternative.

03

Broken parts

A snapped chain, a broken clasp, a cracked bail on a pendant. I also repair pieces that other places hand back as beyond saving.

04

Engraving and personalisation

A wedding date, a name, a motif. Engraved inside a wedding band or on a pendant, by machine or by hand. Possible on older pieces too.

05

Professional cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaning and polishing. The piece comes back the way it was, without scratches or deposits. Usually done while you wait.

06

Restoring old jewellery

A piece from your grandmother that cannot be worn? I make a new band and keep the original stone. The character stays, the piece comes back to life.

07

Checking fineness and stones

Not sure whether what you have at home is real gold, and at what fineness? I check the fineness of the metal and whether the stone is genuine, right there in the workshop. It is not a valuation, but you will reliably know what you actually have.

How it works

Simply. No middlemen.

Before you set out, please call ahead so I am at the workshop. You then bring the piece to Prague 5 (Pod Kesnerkou 46), or send it by insured post. Once I have looked at it I call or write with a price and an expected date.

If you agree to the price, I get on with it. No deposits up front. You pay when you collect the finished piece.

When it is done I hand it over in person at the workshop, or send it back by insured post. Repairs going out by insured post anywhere in the country leave within 1 to 3 working days.

Common questions

Common questions

How much does a ring repair cost?
It depends on the type of repair. Resizing a ring up or down is usually 400 to 900 CZK depending on the material. Stone replacement from 600 CZK plus the price of the new stone. Chain repair from 300 CZK. I give you the exact price once I have seen the piece.
How long does a repair take?
Most repairs (resizing a ring, fixing a clasp, cleaning) I manage within 5 working days. For more involved work, or when stones have to be ordered, 2 to 3 weeks. Express repairs we arrange individually.
Do you repair jewellery you did not make?
Yes, I repair any gold, silver or platinum jewellery regardless of who made it. Come and have the condition assessed in person at the workshop, Pod Kesnerkou 46, Prague 5.
Can I send you a piece by post?
Yes. Send the piece by insured post to the workshop address. Once I have looked at it I will call you with a price. I send the finished piece back insured as well.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Write to me in English by email or on WhatsApp and we will sort the repair out that way. I am used to working with clients who live in Prague and do not speak Czech.
Can you make a new piece from my old gold?
I do work with your own material: I melt the gold down and make a new piece from it. You just need at least 8 grams of the original gold at the same fineness. We can go through it at a consultation.
